Sean McGowan

PLEASE READ: A personal appeal from Executive Director Sean McGowan

I’ve gotten a lot of responses to my last post. I want to be clear.

We are arts teachers. The work we do creates a better future for everyone. Our work opens minds. Our work engages students. Our work strengthens essential ties between schools, communities, and families.

Make no mistake, many students get an excellent arts education. Our teachers have never been more passionate. Our culture has never been richer. Our standards have never been higher.

We believe universal access to the arts is not a privilege. It’s a right.

We teach the arts to give people a chance to express themselves, explore new ideas, and grow as compassionate, driven, capable individuals.

Our programs cost money, but we don’t take a single penny from the government. In the last few weeks, we’ve received more $10 donations that I can count, from people who share our passion.

Your voice can be heard, whether it’s by donating, volunteering, or simply taking the time to stop by our building and starting a conversation.

We’re almost there. We’re very close. Please help us cross the finish line.

Make your 2012 donation to support us with a gift in any amount, and help us reach our goal right now.

Together, we are making the world a better place — and we’re doing it in an incredibly rich, creative, and positive fashion.

I’d like to personally extend my thanks to every teacher reading this. You are the real heroes of this day and age.

Thank you,

Sean
