Small Business Sales/Fundraising Director

The position operates directly underneath the Denver Art Society Treasurer with a team of other Directors to meet monthly financial goals. The Small Business Director is responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with small businesses to support Denver Art Society’s mission of leveraging the wealth of art to help Denver’s poorest schools and neighborhoods. This position works with small- and medium-sized businesses to raise funds for the Denver Homeless Art Exhibit and the Denver Public Art University. Current fundraising goal for the Director is $160,000 (net). The Director will act as the Denver Art Society liaison with Colorado businesses and is responsible for prospecting for and cultivating of new business accounts.

The ideal person for this position has at least three years of face to face outside sales or fundraising experience, is self motivated, organized, works well independently, is comfortable with public speaking and has performed well in small teams in the past.
SMALL BUSINESS SALES/FUNDRAISING DIRECTOR
- Collaborate on team strategic direction, creating your own personal strategy within.
- Through outcome and evaluation of previous fundraising, organize a written plan to meet or exceed goal.
- Assist in identification and recruitment of key Relay leadership positions with highly qualified individuals.
- Develop, implement and manage event timelines and budgets.
- Liaison with volunteer leadership and organize volunteers to augment fundraising efforts.
- Develop effective working relationship with high-level executives, recruit and solicit sponsorship in support of the Relay events.
- Work with committee chairs on different aspects of their campaigns.
- Manage your team’s volunteers.
- Visit various local businesses and small- to medium- sized companies to develop partnerships and fund projects.
- Serve as staff liaison between assigned activities and Denver Art Society leadership team to ensure implementation of common goals and to promote a harmonious working relationship.
- 2-3 yrs experience in volunteer management, sales, marketing, fundraising and/or community organization is required.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and social skills.
- Must be willing and able to work (socialize?) some evenings & weekends.
- A strong ability to say what you believe and to honestly motivate others.
- A passionate & persuasive personality.
- Extensive local travel is also required, so either reliable transportation or comfort/competence riding Denver public transit system is needed.
- Ability to work resourcefully on a team of five.
