Live music from Magpie, Someone’s in for an Explosion and Cody Coffee on SaturdaySaturday night, starting at 9 p.m. will be an evening of live local music upstairs at Denver Art Society. Cody Coffee will kick the night off, followed by Someone's in for an Explosion then Magpie will be headlining. With a meager $5 suggested donation, it will be a cheap and fun night! First Friday: The beauty of photography, art and music on May 4, 2012It's photography month, and we're celebrating the beauty of photos on all three levels of the Denver Art Society on May 4th at the First Friday ArtWalk. Upstairs the students from The Third Way will be exhibiting their photos and poetry from 5-7 p.m. On the main floor we'll be displaying the photography of Council members: Charlie Walter, Caroline Pugh , and Elliot Siff with the musical accompaniment of Chris McGarry, Lee Avenue and Alex Dalton. A brief look at the digital sketching processI do a lot of digital sketching for practice, and whenever I post one of these sketches, I get a lot of questions about how they are created. A lot of people assume that digital art must involve something similar to "tracing," or the usage of a lot of "effects," etc. Actually, the digital illustrations that artists create that you see in films and video games all the time are created much the same as traditional artworks are created, using the same concepts and essentially the same techniques.
